Shadow Mountain Band- December 2013

Howdy folks-

December is comin’ on strong here, with below freezing weather at night and cold, but sunny days. I am in the studio, busily mixing the next SMB record, which will be released after the end of the year. I will keep you posted on that. The big news this week is the release of the (long awaited) ‘Listen’ video:

The band will be playing our regular Saturday shows at Pappy and Harriet’s, in Pioneertown ( As you probably know already, our set is Saturday, at 5-7PM. We will also be playing on New Years Day at Paps, time TBA. No cover. New Years Day is a good day to celebrate up in the desert at P+H’s. We have started up a sunday afternoon show, which we generally do as a trio, at Ma Rouge Coffee House, in Yucca Valley. It has been great fun so far. Please join us for a laid-back Sunday matinee jam.

The December schedule looks like this right now:

Saturdays (14th, 21st, 28th) at Pappy’s 5-7PM – also, New years Day (time TBA) (

Sundays (15th, 22nd, 29th) at Ma Rouge, in Yucca Valley, 1-3PM ( )

I have decided to release all records, starting with the last SMB, under the new system which is explained in the paragraph below:

Dear friends and supporters of the band. We have changed our policy and system of releasing music for Shadow Mountain Band, and our other artists on New Moon Records. As the demand for physical product has diminished, we have begun to release our titles as digital only through the online outlets; Amazon, I-Tunes, etc. This, we feel, is kinder to the environment as well as relieving us of producing and inventorying large amounts of physical product. Physical product will still be available to our friends and supporters, audio CDs, made up in small numbers, in our studio in Joshua Tree, will have all the music from the digital releases, and will also contain extra music, live performances, graphics, and eventually, video. Digital distribution is obviously the wave of the future, but folks that come out to see the band often like to take something home with them, and we appreciate this. We feel that these custom packages will fill the bill nicely. They will be available at our concerts and through a few specific outlets listed on our website, For folks on our mailing list, there will also be links to free downloads and YouTube videos, along with our regular monthly posting of our shows and news. We value your support very much. When you allow our music into your heart, we are one with you. Please feel free to leave any comments you may have. Be well…SMB – PO Box 203 – Joshua Tree, CA 92252

This month, I have set up a song for free download on the sound cloud site. It is a Christmas song I wrote with a friend back in high school. It became a staple holiday song around the midwest, and still gets airplay and covers every year. Last year, I did a redo of it. It is posted to see on Youtube, and will be posted for free download on my sound cloud site: (or watch on Youtube) be sure to listen all the way to the end.

We wish you the very best of holidays.
